Mike Kramer, featured artist at IMGBAT’s new shop, describes the origins of his unique style.

“First, it was my grandpa. A cluttered den where he repaired old watches and clocks. Next it was my dad. A basement workshop/lab with dozens of unfinished mechanical projects. And then there’s me. A garage, plenty of COVID time on my hands and an endless curiosity for how things worked.

Dabbling at first, just to see what I could do. My own amusement.  Pipes, sockets, finials, knobs, couplings, wiring, metal shavings, a little smoke, a lot of u-turns. Today, I make reading lights, desk lamps, table lights and wall fixtures that mesh the gritty with the whimsical. Everyday bits and pieces assembled into functional art.

Raised in Xenia OH, educated in Cincy, living in Northern KY with 1 wife, 2 Boston terriers and 3 nearly-grown daughters.
